Pats cut Deaderick, sign two O-linemen
By Field Yates
The Patriots have released defensive lineman Brandon Deaderick, a 2010 seventh-round pick who started five games in 2012. In addition, the team officially signed offensive linemen Tyronne Green and R.J. Mattes, and announced that wide receiver Andre Holmes had been released, as colleague Mike Rodak previously reported.
Deaderick, who was used as a starter next to Vince Wilfork down the stretch of the 2012 regular season, finished with 18 tackles and a pair of forced fumbles in 14 games played. He was entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2013.
The signing of Green was reported earlier in the day after his agent announced via Twitter that he was joining the Patriots. He started 13 games at guard for the Chargers last season.
Mattes went undrafted after playing at North Carolina State as both a guard and tackle. He's listed on the school's official website at 6-foot-6 and 313 pounds. He was not invited to the 2013 NFL combine.
The Patriots' roster is now at 90 players, the maximum allowed.
