Chandler Jones 'knocking on the door'

By Mike Reiss

Gregg Rosenthal, who edits the "Around the League" blog on NFL.com, puts together his list of top 25 edge rushers and breaks things up into the following categories:

1. The best of the best
2. Next level
3. Knocking on the door, Part I
4. Knocking on the door, Part II

Second-year defensive end Chandler Jones lands at No. 15 on the list, putting him into the first "knocking on the door" category.

"Jones could be New England's most complete pass rusher since Willie McGinest. It wouldn't be a shock if he's a top-five guy before long," Rosenthal writes.

That's high praise for Jones, who played in 14 games last season and totaled six sacks. Jones is listed at 6-foot-5 and 260 pounds, but noted recently that he's added more muscle this year.

Bill Belichick has said that players often make the most noticeable jump between their first and second seasons and Jones, a 2012 first-round draft pick, is one of the top Patriots players to watch along those lines.
