Dobson misses Day 5 camp practice
By Field Yates
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Rookie wide receiver Aaron Dobson was among the Patriots who did not take part in Tuesday's afternoon practice outside of Gillette Stadium, though the reason behind his absence remains unknown.
In addition, guard Marcus Cannon, who has worked with the top offensive line as Dan Connolly (shoulder) works his way back to 100 percent, was not spotted in the latter portions of practice. Veteran Tyronne Green worked with the top group in Cannon's place.
The full pads practice was the team's last on field work in advance of the first day off for players during camp, which will take place on Wednesday.
The team appeared to expand its focus on both red zone and goal line work. On Monday night, quarterback Tom Brady referenced that the team had not yet begun its red zone work prior to the practice held that evening.
The passing game was back on track after a sluggish effort on Monday night, with rookie wide receiver Kenbrell Thompkins impressing. The absence of Dobson seemingly afforded both Thompkins and Josh Boyce more reps with the top offensive personnel groups.
Quarterback Tim Tebow'a performance was notable, as he showed marked improvement from earlier practices, displaying touch and arm strength on downfield throws.
The team returns to the field on Thursday afternoon.
