Brady holding on to holder duties?
By Field Yates
Here's what we don't know yet: Whether New England Patriots punter Ryan Allen, who left the team's divisional round game with a shoulder injury, will be healthy enough to play Sunday against the Denver Broncos.
If he isn't, there's a chance the team will place him on injured reserve and sign a new punter to replace him.
But Allen isn't just the team's punter, he's also the holder.
On Saturday night, quarterback Tom Brady took over holding duties, but he's received no word yet about his status as the team's holder for the AFC Championship game.
"I don't know, we haven't talked about that yet," he said in response to a question on an appearance with the "Dennis & Callahan Show" on sports radio WEEI Monday morning. "Whatever it takes -- I've had experience, like I said, in college doing it. And we've got the best kicker in the league, so I think you could probably hold for him and he'd make 90 percent of them."
Asked if there was a depth chart for holders, Brady responded light-heartedly.
"I've never even checked the depth chart," he said with a laugh. "I wouldn't even know, I haven't been to one of their meetings."
