Belichick takes top spot in coach rankings. NFL Media analyst Elliot Harrison ranks NFL head coaches from 1-32, and Bill Belichick lands at No. 1. Consistency is cited as one of the reasons. "Still an easy choice as the top head coach in the NFL," Harrison writes. "Belichick had his Patriots in the playoffs last season for the 11th time in his 14 years on the job, with New England advancing all the way to the AFC Championship Game for the eighth time in that span."
Patriots and matchup nightmares. Field Yates continues his usual top-notch work with his ESPN.com Insider series on NFL "nightmare matchups," and the Patriots are represented on offense (tight end Rob Gronkowski at No. 8 ) and defense (cornerback Darrelle Revis at No. 10).
Kirwan's take on Revis. In listing 10 Pro Bowl players on new teams, and sharing insight on if those players will maintain Pro Bowl status, Pat Kirwan of CBSSports.com lists Darrelle Revis and writes: "Bill Belichick loves to get his hands on a player like Revis who is playing for an even bigger contract, and the New England scheme will fit him just fine. The quarterbacks he'll face in divisional games are EJ Manuel, Geno Smith and Ryan Tannehill. Revis Island will return to the Pro Bowl -- if the Patriots don't make the Super Bowl."
Revis among best free-agent fits. David Steele of the Sporting News goes through some of the best free-agent fits this year, and puts Revis-to-New-England at No. 2.
