FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Patriots had the following six players in for tryouts:
QB Clay Belton (Findlay)
G Chandler Burden (Kentucky)
WR Jerrell Jackson (Missouri)
RB Robbie Rouse (Fresno State)
QB Nathan Stanley (SE Louisiana)
G Desmond Wynn (Rutgers)
It is commonplace for the Patriots to work out several players at this time of year, as part of planning for the practice squad and emergency situations. All of the players in for workouts have practice squad eligibility.
The presence of two quarterbacks might raise some eyebrows as it relates to Tim Tebow's potential roster spot. If the Patriots were considering keeping Tebow as a third quarterback on the 53-man roster, it might be less likely that the club would consider a quarterback for the practice squad. But it should be noted that just because the Patriots worked out these players, it doesn't necessarily mean they will sign them.
