CLEVELAND -- Justin Masterson of the Cleveland Indians has finally thrown tonight's first pitch to Jacoby Elsbury after rain delayed the start of the opener of Boston's three-game series at Progressive Field.

The first pitch came at 8:06 p.m., after an official delay of 61 minutes. Game-time temperature is 73 degrees.

The playing field is in fine shape after a light rain fell for about 40 minutes in downtown Cleveland. According to local news reports, some suburban areas 15-20 miles southwest of the ballpark were not as fortunate as heavy hail combined with strong winds caused damage.
