DETROIT -- Just 10 days after he was acquired from the Colorado Rockies, left-handed reliever Franklin Morales was placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Red Sox Sunday with what was described by the team as a strained left forearm.
To take his place, the Red Sox parachuted in Michael Bowden for Sunday's doubleheader. With Bobby Jenks likely to rejoin the team after his rehab appearance Sunday in Pawtucket, Bowden's stay is likely to be a short one.
Morales had made two appearances for the Red Sox since his arrival and gave up two runs in each of them. He last pitched on May 25 in Cleveland, when he gave up three hits and two runs in an inning against the Indians.
