Francona announced after Thursday's game that with Jarrod Saltalamacchia able to resume playing, catcher Luis Exposito was returning to Pawtucket, his place on the roster to be taken by reliever Michael Bowden.

Saltalamacchia said he was still feeling weak after a harrowing couple of days that began with him becoming violently ill at around 3 in the morning following Tuesday night's game. Saltalamacchia said that even before that game, he had felt some dizziness and nausea but played through it. But when he returned to the hotel he began vomiting around 3 a.m., and later that morning, after being checked by a physician, he was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

He was administered fluids intravenously and was also able to eat some solid foods, but said he still felt weak Thursday night. He said doctors were uncertain what caused his illness.
