FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Dustin Pedroia, who took batting practice and infield on Thursday and was scheduled to play Friday afternoon, is not in the lineup that was posted on the board in the Sox clubhouse Friday morning.

Pedroia hasn't played in a game since making a diving stop Tuesday night against the Minnesota Twins and landing awkwardly on his left wrist in the first inning. The injury was diagnosed as a mild sprain, and Pedroia shrugged it off as little more than a trifle.

The clubhouse will be open only briefly because of a meeting with new union head Michael Weiner, but we'll update you on Pedroia's condition as soon as more information becomes available.

Mike Lowell, meanwhile, is scheduled to play third for the second time this spring. The tarp is on the field, a light rain is falling, and there's a chance of scattered thunderstorms.

Here's the lineup:
1. Marco Scutaro, SS
2. Bill Hall, LF
3. Mike Lowell, 3B
4. Kevin Youkilis, 1B
5. David Ortiz, DH
6. J.D. Drew, RF
7. Jason Varitek, C
8. Tug Hulett, 2B
9. Josh Reddick, CF
SP -- Jon Lester, LHP
