The Red Sox reportedly added some more pitching depth by signing right-hander Justin Germano.
Germano, who pitched in Korea last season after making nine appearances for the Indians, turned down more than $1 million overseas for a chance to make the Sox, SI.com's John Heymann reported via Twitter.
Germano had a 3.31 ERA in 35 1/3 innings for Cleveland in 2010. His best season was 2007 with the Padres, when he was 7-10 with a 4.46 ERA in 26 appearances (23 starts).
The Red Sox also reportedly added to their coaching staff, bringing on longtime Mets coach Randy Niemann as a staff assistant. Niemann worked with Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine in New York.
