DETROIT -- Red Sox outfielder Carl Crawford, back in Fort Myers recovering from wrist surgery, has taken batting practice a couple of times on the field, general manager Ben Cherington said here Thursday.
“He’s responded well so far,’’ Cherington said. “Hopefully he’ll get into (extended spring) games pretty soon, but we haven’t put a date on it. Once that happens, we’ll take the next step and ramp him up from there. He’ll kind of tell us how many at-bats he needs and we’ll see.
“No timetable, but he’s progressing well.’’
