MIAMI -- Red Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis doesn’t think he’ll miss time after he was hit by a pitch Tuesday night against the Miami Marlins.
Youkilis, who was drilled in the ribs by a Steve Cishek fastball in the eighth inning of Boston’s 2-1 win, said he hopes to play in Wednesday’s series finale.
“He’s got a pretty good welt,” manager Bobby Valentine said. “He got hit pretty solid right in the ribs.”
Valentine said Youkilis asked not to return to the field for the bottom of the eighth. Adrian Gonzalez shifted from right field to first, with Ryan Sweeney replacing Gonzalez in right.
