BOSTON -- The Red Sox came into Thursday night's game against the White Sox with just one walk-off win all season, that coming on Jarrod Saltalamacchia's pinch-hit, two-run home run to beat the Rays on May 26.

Make that two. Held scoreless for eight innings on five hits by White Sox rookie Jose Quintana, the Red Sox won, 3-1, on a three-run home run by Cody Ross, his third three-run homer in two nights.

There were no calls of "Yoooouuuuk" Thursday night. The former Red Sox third baseman sat out the series finale with a tight hamstring.

The chant of the night was "Co-dy, Co-dy,'' after the Red Sox made it three out of four against the AL Central leaders.

Carl Crawford started the winning rally with a leadoff single off White Sox left-hander Matt Thornton. Dustin Pedroia, in his first game back off the DL, grounded into a force play, but Adrian Gonzalez followed with a line single to right.

White Sox manager Robin Ventura went to his rookie closer, Addison Reed, and Ross put one in the Monster seats.

The win went to Alfredo Aceves in relief of Clay Buchholz, who gave up six hits and a run in eight innings.
