Boston Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine said Wednesday he didn't think Josh Beckett's sore back would land him on the disabled list. Beckett left Tuesday night's rain-shortened game in the top of the third inning with a back spasm.
"It doesn't seem like a DL," Valentine said during his weekly interview on Boston sports radio station WEEI. "But again, when Josh left last night he was tight. The trainer's report so far today and Ben (Cherington) had talked to Josh, was it just a little tight and we'll take it, as we do, day by day."
It's still unclear whether Beckett will need to miss his next scheduled start.
