Valentine: Ortiz not likely to play Sunday

CLEVELAND -- David Ortiz, on the disabled list since July 17 with a strained Achilles, was scheduled to run the bases on Saturday. The thought had been that if things went well, he might be able to play Sunday, the finale of the four-game series with the Indians.

“He’ll do more tomorrow,” Valentine said after Friday night's game. “Hopefully that will be the day that gets him over the hump.”

Will Ortiz play on Sunday?

“I don’t think so,” Valentine said.
