BOSTON -- With 10 games left to play, the Sox have a shot at making some dubious history.

With a record of 68-84, the Sox are threatening to finish with a worse record than the '92 Sox (73-89) and '66 Sox (72-90). They have to play .500 ball (5-5) to match the '92 team and beat the '66 team.

They remain a half-game ahead of last-place Toronto while trying to avoid becoming just the second Sox team since 1932 to finish last. The Blue Jays lost to the Rays, 12-1, on Friday night.

The Sox finished with 90 wins last season, 22 more than they currently have. Here is a list of the five biggest declines in victories from one season to the next in Red Sox history.

29 -- 1905 Sox won 78 games, the '06 team 49

26 -- 1912 Sox won 105 games, the '13 team 79

25 -- 1942 Sox won 93 games, the '43 team 68

21 -- 1946 Sox won 104 games, the '47 team 83

20 -- 1924 Sox won 67 games, the ‘25 team 47
