Rosario, 27, made 25 relief appearances (26 innings) for Triple-A New Orleans and posted a 1.04 ERA in 2012. He limited opponents to a .215 average and recorded 24 strikeouts with only two walks. He also had 16 saves.
Rosario also appeared in four major league games for the Marlins, allowing six runs in three innings. Miami originally signed him as an international free agent in 2004. He has a 30-18 record with 47 saves with a 3.15 ERA in 181 career minor league games, including 35 starts.
Lin, 24, made his major league debut with the Red Sox this season and hit .250 (3-for-12) in nine games for Boston. He spent the majority of the season at Triple-A Pawtucket and hit .247 with 11 doubles, five triples, two home runs, 30 RBI, 42 runs and 15 stolen bases for the PawSox.
The Boston Red Sox on Wednesday claimed right-handed pitcher Sandy Rosario off waivers from the Miami Marlins, designating outfielder Che-Hsuan Lin for assignment to make room on the roster.
