The win gives the AL representative in the World Series home-field advantage; if that happens to be the Red Sox -- yes, we're getting ahead of ourselves, but they do have the league's best record -- that would potentially mean an extra game with Ortiz the lineup as the designated hitter.
"It's pretty important to one team," Pedroia told reporters in New York. "Hopefully it's our team."
Ortiz was the starting DH on Tuesday, batting sixth for the AL, and went 0-for-2, flying out to center in the second and grounding into a double play to end the fourth.
Pedroia also went 0-for-2, lining to right in the third and striking out looking in the sixth. He left the game in the bottom of the seventh.
