BALTIMORE -- To paraphrase the popular Boston Bruins phrase, don’t poke the Papi.

A night after he unleashed his fury on a dugout phone, leading to his 10th career ejection, Ortiz took his aggression out on the Baltimore Orioles, hitting his 20th home run, plus three singles, in Boston’s 5-0 win over the Orioles.

It was Ortiz’s second 4-for-4 game this season, and provided ample support for Jon Lester’s most dominating outing in weeks, Lester striking out eight while allowing just four singles in seven innings.

The bashing Baltimores, who lead the majors in home runs and hit four Friday night, did not leave the yard in the last two nights, both losses, and lost a series to the Sox after winning six straight against Boston. With the Rays losing in the bottom of the ninth to the Yankees, the Sox moved back into first place in the AL East, a half-game ahead of Tampa Bay.

They return home Monday to face David Price and the Rays in a makeup game. The winner of that will claim first place in the division, the Sox having 56 games left after Sunday.

Catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia, who caught all three games in this series, including Sunday’s day game after a night game, also had a two-run single.
