PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- The White House officially announced Tuesday that President Obama will meet the Red Sox at the White House on April 1 in recognition of their winning the 2013 World Series.

This will be the third visit for the Sox to the White House, but their first time with President Obama. George W. Bush was in office when the Red Sox won in 2004 and 2007.
