BALTIMORE -- A couple of quick hits from a rainy Baltimore, where both teams worked inside on the eve of Monday’s regular season opener between the Red Sox and Orioles.

* Shane Victorino, who accompanied the team to Baltimore Saturday night, flew to Boston on Sunday for an MRI on his right hamstring, injured in the team’s last exhibition game. The MRI was to be administered Sunday afternoon, with a full workup and exam Monday morning, manager John Farrell said, and there would be time for Victorino to return in time for Monday’s 3 p.m. start. It would seem unlikely, based on prior practice, that the medical staff would clear him to play immediately, even though Victorino departed Fort Myers Saturday insisting he would play.

Victorino was on the 25-man major league roster submitted by the Red Sox before Sunday’s 3 p.m. deadline, meaning the team did not feel compelled to place him on the disabled list immediately, but that also remains a possibility.

* David Ortiz, who had sat out a couple of games with a stiff right calf, is good to go for Sunday, Farrell said.
