NEW YORK -- Dustin Pedroia isn't the only member of the Red Sox with a doctor's appointment in Boston on Monday.

Shane Victorino and Koji Uehara also are scheduled to return to Boston for exams, though the prognosis for both is encouraging.

Victorino, who began the season on the disabled list with a hamstring injury, is expected to begin a rehab assignment in Portland on Tuesday, while Farrell said he expects Uehara to join the club in Chicago. The Red Sox closer missed the Yankees series after reporting stiffness in the back of his shoulder on Friday, but came through a long-toss session on Sunday better than expected.

Meanwhile, Will Middlebrooks, who is not eligible to come off the DL until Sunday, will continue his rehab work in Chicago. He took batting practice Sunday and hit a number of balls into the Yankee Stadium seats.
