Lineup: Slumping Bradley off the bench

June, 11, 2014
After riding the pine for the past two games, Jackie Bradley Jr. is back in the Red Sox lineup tonight, batting ninth.

Bradley, batting .203, has been benched after striking out in eight of 10 at-bats in Detroit.

“In Jackie’s case, he’s playing really good defense, he’s grinding, he’s making offensive adjustments, he’s here every day working to get better,’’ general manager Ben Cherington said Tuesday. “He’s a very important guy for us and we feel he’s the right guy. He’s our center fielder.”

Stephen Drew will miss a third straight game with a strained oblique.

Here’s the rest of the Sox lineup for tonight’s game in Baltimore:

1. Brock Holt, LF
2. Xander Bogaerts, 3B
3. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
4. David Ortiz, DH
5. Mike Napoli, 1B
6. Jonny Gomes, RF
7. A.J. Pierzynski, C
8. Jonathan Herrera, SS
9. Jackie Bradley Jr., CF
SP -- Rubby De La Rosa, RHP
