BOSTON -- Red Sox right-hander Clay Buchholz will have to wait another day to begin his rehab assignment as his scheduled start for Triple-A Pawtucket was rained out Friday night.
Buchholz, on the DL with a hyperextended left knee, was expected to throw about five innings. The PawSox said he will start the first game of a doubleheader against Charlotte on Saturday at 5:05 p.m. ET.
Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks was also scheduled to start his rehab Friday. He is working his way back from a fractured right index finger.
Right fielder Shane Victorino, out since May 24 with a right hamstring strain, also begins a rehab stint Saturday.
