BOSTON -- Shortly after 10 a.m., citing inclement weather associated with Tropical Storm Arthur, the Boston Red Sox announced that Friday afternoon's contest with Baltimore has been postponed to Saturday at 1:05 p.m.

According to the Red Sox’ professional weather service, Telvent DTN, the current forecast calls for heavy rain showers throughout the afternoon and into the evening. The National Weather Service has also issued a flash flood warning for Boston and throughout southern New England.

That means Saturday will be a day-night doubleheader between the Red Sox and Orioles. Game two of this three-game weekend series will take place at 7:15 p.m. Lefthander Jon Lester (9-7, 2.92 ERA) will get the ball in the first game, with John Lackey (9-5, 3.62) scheduled to start the nightcap.
