BOSTON -- The Red Sox are expected to meet with Jacoby Ellsbury on Tuesday night after their game with the Indians, with all indications that the team will activate the outfielder from the disabled list in the next day or two.

Ellsbury had three more hits Tuesday afternoon at Pawtucket as he continued his rehab assignment and was in the Fenway dugout for Tuesday night's game.

Ellsbury, who has played six games on his rehab stint, has played in only nine games for Boston. He suffered broken ribs in a collision with third baseman Adrian Beltre in April. He came off the disabled list briefly in May and has been on the DL since May 28.

“It sounds like he’s swinging the bat good and talking to Torey [Lovullo, Pawtucket’s manager] it sounds like he’s running well in the outfield,” Boston manager Terry Francona said before Tuesday night's game. “We hope he feels he’s ready. Until that happens, it’s impossible to look inside anybody’s body, so we’ll keep talking to him. We’d love to have him back as soon as we can. We’ll talk to our medical people as well as him to make sure he’s all right.”
