Delgado goes 0-for-3 in PawSox debut


Carlos Delgado went 0-for-3 for the Pawtucket Red Sox on Monday in the first game of his comeback attempt.

Delgado, the 17-year major league veteran first baseman, hit clean up as the designated hitter in the PawSox's 2-1 loss at Scranton Wilkes-Barre. He flew out to the wall in right in the second inning, grounded to third in the fifth and struck out in the sixth.

The Red Sox signed the left-handed hitting Delgado, who is attempting a comeback from two surgeries on his right hip that have kept him out of action since May 2009. after Kevin Youkilis underwent season-ending surgery on his thumb.
