Valentine not bothered by Tito's visit
By Gordon Edes
NEW YORK -- Bobby Valentine spent part of his afternoon in his office with the ESPN "Sunday Night Baseball" crew, which included Terry Francona, the former Sox manager who the day before had sat in the clubhouse visiting with a half-dozen players. Dustin Pedroia originally had invited Francona to pull up a chair, and he was soon surrounded by a half-dozen players.
Did Valentine and Francona discuss Saturday's clubhouse reunion?
"Oh, I yelled at him as soon as he came into my office and said, 'Don't ever do that again,'’’ Valentine joked. “No, I said, 'Hey, how you doing?' and we didn't bring it up."
“I didn’t think it was any big deal. I didn’t see it. I wasn’t there. I wasn't there partaking in the conversation but what's the big deal?"
Valentine told MLB.com that Francona sent a text message apologizing for the public attention his visit received.
