Theo's back in town tonight

By Gordon Edes

Former Red Sox GM Theo Epstein returns this weekend for the Hot Stove Cool Music Baseball weekend that since its inception in 2000 has raised more than $5 million for the Foundation to be Named Later, the charity formed by Epstein and his twin brother Paul.

Epstein will be participating in a “Baseball Roundtable” Friday at Fenway Park in which the topic du jour will be “changing the clubhouse culture.’’ Red Sox GM Ben Cherington, assistant GM Mike Hazen and manager John Farrell also will be participants, along with Orioles manager Buck Showalter and special guest athlete “panelist to be named later.’’

Peter Gammons will moderate the event, and audience members will be given a chance to ask questions. Tickets are $125 and remain on sale at FoundationToBeNamedLater.org. Package deals are available for both HSCM Roundtable and Concert. The evening begins at 6 with a reception and buffet.

The Hot Stove Cool Music concert takes place Saturday and features an ensemble of musical performances by two-time Grammy nominee Tanya Donelly, the dynamic multi-instrumentalists Parkington Sisters, Boston Music Award winners Christian McNeill & Sea Monsters, Billboard Music Songwriting winners The Chad Hollister Band and the returning Hot Stove All-Stars featuring Gammons, Buffalo Tom’s Bill Janovitz and indie rocker Kay Hanley with Robin Lane. Hollywood actor Mike O’Malley returns as emcee. Tickets for the concert are $40 and are available online at FoundationToBeNamedLater.org.
