BOSTON -- Of the 7.1 billion people inhabiting this planet, ESPN Boston has found exactly three -- one each in Burundi, Krgysztan, and Tonga -- who correctly predicted in an online poll before the season that the Boston Red Sox would be playing in the World Series. All three have subsequently admitted they thought they were ordering shower curtains on eBay.
But did you hear about the former Red Sox manager turned college athletic director who told the Boston Globe in Tuesday’s editions that “I picked them to win the division, the ALDS, the ALCS, and now the World Series.”
That could not be independently verified. No one could stop laughing long enough to pick up the phone.
