A quick day for the Red Sox
By Joe McDonald
FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The workday is already over for the Red Sox as they’re getting ready for their annual charity golf tournament this afternoon.
It’s the last day here at the player development complex as big-league camp shifts up the street to the City of Palms Park.
Earlier today, Red Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez increased his tee work to 45 swings. He’s expected to begin taking flips on Saturday.
Also, Carl Crawford and J.D. Drew will not play against either of the college teams on Saturday, but both are expected to start playing Grapefruit League games by Monday.
Reliever Dennys Reyes was scheduled to arrive at camp today after clearing up his visa issue on Thursday. He was not here, but is expected to join the team on Saturday. Fellow reliever Alfredo Aceves, who also had visa issues, was back in camp today.
Outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury was back on the field working out after he missed Thursday due to the flu.
