Carlos Beltran did what Torii Hunter could not do in the ALCS: Reach over the right field wall to rob David Ortiz of a grand slam.

Beltran performed the feat in the second inning of Game 1 of the World Series on Wednesday night, turning what would have been a four-run blast into a sacrifice fly.

Beltran, who is the Cardinals' hottest hitter, suffered a rib contusion on the play, came out of the game and was sent to a local hospital for further testing.

Beltran expects to be a Met

December, 8, 2010
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- There have been reports that the Boston Red Sox were interested in a trade with the New York Mets for Carlos Beltran, but the outfielder’s agent, Scott Boras, denied there’s been any communication in regards to his client.

“His plan right now is to be a New York Met," Boras said. "He has a no-trade clause, so if anything were brought to him, I think it would depend on what the situation was. I would say certainly now his expectation is to be a Met next year.”
