The Bruins have recalled defensemen Adam McQuaid and Andy Wozniewski from Providence on an emergency basis, according to GM Peter Chiarelli. Both are expected to be at practice Wednesday at Ristuccia Arena. The team also placed forward Milan Lucic on injured reserve.
The status of defenseman Dennis Wideman is questionable, after he missed the entire third period of the Bruins' 3-1 loss to Philadelphia on Monday night.
McQuaid, 23, has three goals and seven assists with 66 penalty minutes in 29 games this season for Providence. He was originally drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2005, and was traded to Boston from Columbus for a 2007 fifth-round draft pick in May 2007.
Wozniewski, 29, has six goals and 17 assists in 29 games this season. He was signed by Boston as a free agent on Sept. 9 after splitting last season between the AHL affiliates of the Penguins and Blues.
The Bruins' next game is Friday night (8:30 ET) in Chicago against the Blackhawks.
