BOSTON -- As expected, Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid will not play this afternoon against the Tampa Bay Lightning due to a leg injury. Fellow defenseman Matt Bartkowski will be in the lineup.

McQuaid, who did not practice Sunday, suffered what appeared to be a right leg injury early in the first period Saturday night and did not return as Boston defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs, 3-1, at TD Garden.

"He’s not playing today,” Julien said. “I don’t know if it’s day-to-day, they haven’t told us. We don’t know if it’s day-to-day or a week-plus. I don’t have the answer. All I can tell you is he’s not playing today.”

With 12:08 remaining in the first period Saturday night, McQuaid was attempting to receive a pass behind the Boston net when he dropped to the ice in obvious pain. He remained there until play was stopped. It appeared he was grabbing the groin/hip area of his right leg.

Bartkowski has spent the majority of the season as a healthy scratch and has played only four games. He will likely be paired with Johnny Boychuk.
