WILMINGTON, Mass. -- Boston Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid has suffered a setback and will not be able to return to the lineup this weekend, according to coach Claude Julien.
McQuaid, who has been sidelined since Jan. 19 with a leg injury, was a possibility for Saturday’s game against the Washington Capitals at TD Garden, but the Bruins’ medical staff informed Julien on Friday that McQuaid will not be available.
“They felt that there was a bit of a setback, so again, it becomes a day-to-day, week-to-week, month-to-month, I’m not sure anymore," said Julien. "I’m relying on their feedback almost every day. It’s been a frustrating injury for him and I know he’s really itching to get back. Those kinds of things happen, and he’s set back a little bit. Hopefully we’ll get some better news in the next few days.”
Not only will McQuaid miss Saturday’s game, he will not play against the New York Rangers Sunday at Madison Square Garden.
