Melrose: Three keys for the B's

ESPN analyst Barry Melrose talks about what the reeling Boston Bruins must do to make the playoffs. Boston is currently one point out of the final playoff spot, sitting 10th in the Eastern Conference. Melrose's three keys for the B's:

  • Marc Savard, who returns from injury Friday night against Buffalo, must come back at a high level and stay healthy the rest of the season. The Bruins are currently last in the NHL in scoring with 121 goals, eight behind the next-closest team.

  • Goalie Tim Thomas (15-14) must be better. He must get hot and put a streak together, winning seven or more games in a row.

  • Nobody on the team is playing as well as they did last year. That has to change.
