Ference injured in Ottawa game
The Bruins announced Wednesday evening that veteran defenseman Andrew Ference will miss six weeks with a groin injury.
Ference suffered the injury during the second period of Tuesday night's win in Ottawa. He was examined by the team's medical staff Wednesday afternoon.
Ference had appeared in all 42 of the Bruins' games this season. He has five assists and a minus-5 rating.
He underwent offseason groin and hernia surgery last summer after the Bruins' playoff run was cut short against Carolina. But he was 100 percent to start the 2009-10 season.
