* The Bruins win the Stanley Cup for the first time since 1972 and become the fourth road team to win a Stanley Cup Final Game 7 on the road in 16 tries. It’s the second straight time in which the road team won a Game 7, joining the 2009 Penguins, who won at Detroit. Boston becomes the fifth team to win the Stanley Cup after trailing 2-0 in the series. They are the fourth to come back from a 2-0 Stanley Cup Final deficit and win it in Game 7. Elias reports the Bruins are the first team in Stanley Cup Playoff history to win three Game 7s in a single postseason.

* Tim Thomas stops 37 shots and becomes the fourth goalie to record a Game 7 shutout in the Stanley Cup Final. He is the 2nd goalie to record two Game 7 shutouts in a single postseason, joining Patrick Roy in 2002. Thomas sets the single postseason record for saves with 798 and records the most saves in one Stanley Cup Final with 238. Thomas becomes the 2nd American-born player to win Conn Smythe Trophy as Stanley Cup Playoffs MVP, joining Brian Leetch in 1994.

* Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand become the 10th and 11th players to score two goals in a Stanley Cup Final Game 7. Bergeron’s goals give him six for the postseason, which is one more than he had in his previous three appearances combined. Brad Marchand became the fourth rookie to score at least 10 goals in a single postseason and the first since Jeremy Roenick, who scored 11 in 1990 for the Blackhawks. NHL.com reports that Mark Recchi becomes the eighth player in NHL history to win a Stanley Cup in three different decades (he won in 1991 with the Penguins and 2006 with the Hurricanes) and the third player to win a Stanley Cup with three different teams, joining Joe Nieuwendyk and Claude Lemieux.

* The Canucks are the first Canadian-based team to lose at home in Game 7 of a Stanley Cup Final (4-0 entering). The Canucks fall to 0-3 in Stanley Cup Final series, twice losing in Game 7 (1994 at Rangers).
