Bruins captain Zdeno Chara was on the practice ice in Ottawa on Wednesday morning as his teammates rested up for their nighttime game against the Senators. Chara said afterward that he didn't expect to be in the lineup, according to NESN.com.
Chara suffered a lower-body injury in a collision with Blue Jackets forward Antoine Vermette during the Bruins' 5-3 victory on Saturday in Columbus. He missed Monday's practice and Tuesday's win over the Kings in Boston.
Skating along with Chara and assistant coach Doug Jarvis on Wednesday was Jordan Caron, who had been a healthy scratch on Tuesday.
Chara is clearly making progress. "I felt OK," he said after skating. "It was the first time I was on the ice in three or four days, so I didn't expect to be feeling great, but also I didn't feel bad. That's a good sign. You're going to have those days slowly progressing."
As for playing on Wednesday night, he said: "Probably most likely not, but it's a game-time decision."
