BOSTON -- After finding themselves demoted in the depth chart on Friday, Tyler Seguin and Brad Marchand both responded Saturday with their best games of the series thus far, even though the Bruins lost 4-3 to the Capitals. Marchand had a goal and an assist, and while Seguin didn’t register a point, he had four shots on net and was hustling to create plays.

“As far as him getting more chances, he was in the right place and had more opportunities,” Julien said of Seguin, who led the team in goals with 29 in the regular season but has yet to light the lamp in the playoffs. “When you’re trying to find your game again, it doesn’t just come back overnight and all the sudden you start scoring. But he had opportunities, I like that about it, and hopefully goals will follow and hopefully that starts tomorrow. He had grease tonight and those opportunities were there for him, so that’s a positive. You wish he would have put some of those in and it’s a different outcome.”

As for Marchand, who skated with Patrice Bergeron and Rich Peverley after being on the fourth line with Shawn Thornton and Gregory Campbell on Friday at practice, Julien liked the response he got from his second leading goal scorer in the regular season.

“I knew that Brad would certainly respond and it was important for him to be put on a line that he deserves to be on and he responded well tonight,” Julien said. “I thought he played really hard and played a great game for us.”
