Count President Barack Obama among the devoted Linsanity followers.

In a sitdown with Grantland's Bill Simmons this week, Obama showed off his vast knowledge of the NBA and its top players, and when the conversation turned to Knicks phenom and fellow Harvard grad Jeremy Lin, he showed a fatherly sense of pride.

In fact, Obama said he was ahead of the curve on the Linsanity phenomenon.

"I knew about Jeremy before you did, or before everybody else did," he said, citing a conversation with Arne Duncan, his secretary of education who was once captain of the Harvard basketball team.

"Way back when, Arnie and I were playing, and he said 'I'm telling you, we've got this terrific guard named Jeremy Lin at Harvard,' and so when he went for a recruiting trip he saw Lin in action. So I’ve been on the Jeremy Lin bandwagon for a while."

When Simmons asked teasingly if he was taking credit for Linsansity, Obama responded, "I can't take credit for it, but I'm just saying I was there early."
