BC lands No. 1 seed in NCAA hockey

Fresh off winning its third straight Hockey East championship, Boston College earned the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA hockey tournament.

BC will be playing in the Northeast Regional at Worcester, and will face No. 4 seed Air Force in the first round Saturday at 4 p.m. The other first-round game at Worcester will follow, pitting No. 2 seed Minnesota-Duluth against No. 3 Maine, which lost the Hockey East final to BC, 4-1, Saturday night.

Two other Hockey East teams, Boston University and UMass-Lowell, landed at-large bids to the NCAAs, both receiving No. 3 seeds.

BU opens against Minnesota at St. Paul on Saturday (5 p.m.), while UMass-Lowell is paired with Miami at Bridgeport, Conn., on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

All of the first-round games will be streamed online at ESPN3, with the BC and UMass-Lowell games also to be televised on ESPNU.
