Whipple 2.0 kicks off at UMass

Monday was a big day in Amherst, as the Minutemen hit the field for the first training camp practice of coach Mark Whipple’s second go-round as UMass coach.


The new (old) coach tweeted a picture of the day’s preparation:



And later the official UMass football Twitter account provided proof of the plans in action:



The Minutemen also got some encouragement from a famous alum, new Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Rob Blanchflower (a seventh-round NFL draft pick). The pride of Leominster, Massachusetts, sees big things coming for his former teammates:



There are 26 days until the season kicks off against Boston College at Gillette Stadium.
