Former NFL agent and executive Andrew Brandt of the National Football Post writes today on how two successful teams -- the Patriots and Chargers -- have different approaches when it comes to dealing with holdout players. But both produce similar results.

This relates to the Patriots' current situation with offensive lineman Logan Mankins.

"Agents repeatedly express frustration in dealing with the Patriots and Chargers, as tactics used to stir up angst in the team’s front office have little to no effect," Brandt writes.

Part of the reason that is the case with the Patriots, according to Brandt, won't engage in a public back-and-forth.

"The response of Belichick and the team [to Mankins] has been silent indifference," Brandt writes. "As much as the media tries, Belichick will not take the bait; he will not provide fodder for the player and the agent. His indifference, to players and agents, is maddening ..."
