BOSTON -- More from Dustin Pedroia on the status of his left foot injury:

On whether he was disappointed that he won't be able to fulfill his projection of playing on the West Coast trip:

--"A little bit, but as long as I beat six weeks. That's [six weeks] what they told me, and I think I'm gonna do that just to [tick] 'em off even more.

"It feels good. I haven't walked in three weeks so it's a little different, but it feels good. It feels a lot better just to be able to walk around on it and do things on my own."

On how hard it is to watch the team lose games:

--"That's the toughest part. Every time they win it seems like I take a deep breath and relax. When we lose games, I kind of feel like I'm letting everybody down by not being out there, but you can't really control some of the things that happen out there on the field."

On how the foot is progressing:

--"I haven't really tested it. I've been on the crutches. He [the doctor] said if you're feeling pain, whatever you're doing, stop doing it. That's when it could break off. He was really excited about the CT scan. He said it's starting to heal back together and that's a good sign."

On wearing a specially designed shoe when he returns:

--"I just met with New Balance right now and they're doing a great job. They're building a pad on my shoe. I'll wear a shin guard on that area, but my biggest concern is turning the double play, getting hit by a ball when I'm sliding into a base or something like that. I mean, you should see the shoe. It's pretty awesome."
