BOSTON -- Heavy rain has rolled into the Fens, causing a delay with three innings completed and the score tied at 2 between the Red Sox and Texas Rangers. The game will resume at 9:20 ET.

The Rangers scored two unearned runs in the top of the first, taking advantage of pitcher Felix Doubront’s two-base throwing error on leadoff man Elvis Andrus. Singles by Ian Kinsler and Nelson Cruz accounted for the runs, the rally ending only when center-fielder Eric Patterson threw out Vladi Guerrero, who had walked, trying to go from first to third on Cruz’s hit.

The Sox tied it in the second. Kevin Youkilis doubled off the Monster and scored on J.D. Drew’s line single to right. A single by Adrian Beltre and walk to Daniel Nava loaded the bases. Colby Lewis struck out Bill Hall on three pitches, and had Kevin Cash 0-and-2 when he uncorked a wild pitch, allowing Beltre to score the tying run. Lewis proceeded to strike out Cash and Marco Scutaro.

The team that has scored first has won each of Boston’s past 13 games. The Sox have lost their past five games in which the opposition scored first, and won their past 8 when they scored first. The Sox didn’t score first and won on June 24 in Colorado, the Dustin Pedroia three-homer game. The last time they scored first and lost was the next night in San Francisco, when Pedroia fractured his foot.
