A weekly examination of the Bills' ESPN.com Power Ranking:
Preseason: 30 | Last Week: 23 | ESPN.com Power Ranking since 2002
After coming off another home win, this time against the defending Super Bowl champion, Thursday was a humbling crash back to reality for the Buffalo Bills.
They not only dropped their second road contest of the season but also lost their starting quarterback.
Perhaps the latter is why the Bills stayed put in this week's Power Rankings at No. 23.
It makes sense. The Bills were competitive on Thursday night against a team ranked higher than them (the Browns are now No. 16), despite numerous injuries, including quarterback EJ Manuel.
That may have played a part in ESPN senior NFL writer John Clayton's vote; he placed the Bills as high as No. 21 on his list. ESPN Ravens reporter Jamison Hensley had them ranked the lowest at No. 26.
That seems like the correct range for the Bills right now. With Thad Lewis starting at quarterback on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals (No. 8), it may be hard for the Bills to hold their ground much longer.
