Could the Bills nab a top-five pick?

Things in the NFL can change. Quickly.

Just a week ago, we mentioned how the Buffalo Bills won their final five remaining games, they had an outside shot of making the playoffs.

That ship has now all but sailed, so now it's time to look at the other end of the spectrum.

At 4-8, the Bills still have a legitimate shot at a high draft pick. The same schedule -- including games against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Jacksonville Jaguars -- that worked in their favor when they were in the hunt for a playoff spot could also benefit them in the draft order.

Here's a quick look at the NFL's current basement-dwellers:

Cleveland Browns (4-8)

Oakland Raiders (4-8)

Buffalo Bills (4-8)

Minnesota Vikings (3-8-1)

Atlanta Falcons (3-9)

Jacksonville Jaguars (3-9)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-9)

Washington Redskins (3-9)

Houston Texans (2-10)

The Bills will travel to play the Buccaneers and Jaguars over the next two weeks. Those two teams have combined to win six of their last eight games, so each could be tougher opponents than they were viewed just a few weeks ago.

If the Jaguars and Buccaneers continue their improved play, while the Bills continue to slide, it would put the Bills in prime position for a top five draft selection next April.

'Tis the season.
