ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Buffalo Bills quarterback EJ Manuel, who sprained his left knee in Sunday's win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, participated in the start of Wednesday's practice.

Manuel's level of participation in the remainder of practice -- which began indoors before continuing inside Ralph Wilson Stadium -- will become clear when coach Doug Marrone provides the injury report after practice.

Meanwhile, receiver Stevie Johnson, running back Fred Jackson and safety Aaron Williams were not spotted at the start of Wednesday's session.

Johnson is presumed to have traveled back to California following the unexpected death of his mother on Saturday. Williams injured his ribs in Sunday's game, while Jackson's status is unclear.

Defensive tackle Marcell Dareus, who left Sunday's game with an ankle injury, participated in the start of Wednesday's practice.
